Day 1: Tuesday, February 19, 2013, 8:15 AM

Today, upon waking on the first day of my weight loss journey, my weight is 197.8 poundsI have 47.8 pounds to lose to reach my goal weight of 150 pounds.

I have decided to track my carbohydrate intake and will follow a 1600 Calorie regiment prescribed to be several years ago to control my blood sugar levels and to lose weight. I lost weight on this regiment, but gave it up while working on my Ed.D. degree. I am a stress eater. Doctoral school is stressful! Food is my frienemy and comforter

Nonetheless, this is my eating plan:

Breakfast-3 servings of carbs (45g)
Lunch-4 servings of carbs (60g)
Dinner-4 servings of carbs (60g)
Evening snack-1 serving of carbs (15g)

As far as exercise goes, I plan to walk each day, starting out slowly and build up to an hour of walking a day at least five days a week.

This morning I have a strong positive resolve as I sit here in my size 16 stretch jeans that are rather snug. This week is winter break for my school--I teach high school in a public school--another stressful but rewarding situation with which I live. I hope that I can maintain my positive resolve as the days pass. Cheer me on as you can!

Tonight I will post my food diary for today. You must promise not to laugh; however, my fear of your laughing will hopefully keep me honest and on track with my efforts!

Please feel free to post your own efforts, successes, and failures. Misery loves company! Right now, I am pretty miserable with my weight, my physical appearance, and potentially unhealthy physical condition. My excess weight also aggravates my joints and causes a great deal of pain and stiffness as I move through the day's activities.

Talk to you tonight! (Oh, it's raining today--good excuse for not beginning my walking regiment as planned--right? Perhaps it will not rain all day! I'll let you know.)

Good eating! Good moving!
